Lamaze Captain Calamari

This Lamaze toy captures the imagination of the sea world with its personification of a Captain in the form of a Calamari. A brilliant design it features a large velour head measuring approximately 8cm by 14cm in a soft sea green velour fabric. His face has one embroidered eye, a big smiley face and a brown patch over the over eye. He wears an orange fabric bandana which ends in a tie knot peeping through under his hat. His purple hat has auditory development value making brilliant crackly crinkly noises when touched and can be flipped up or down. His hat also has a yellow felt feather attached to it.

Each of his eight calamari legs are in a different vibrant colour for visual interest and 5 of them contain the crinkly crackly magic that sounds when touched.  All the legs end in a knot great for chewing and teething on but one which features a captains hook in yellow satin! In addition to this he holds 2 further activities including an orange Perspex ball containing 4 colourful balls that rattle together when played with and 2 teething rings that clank together.

Play doesn’t stop there. On his underside he has a round mirror with a diameter of approx. 7cm. Turn the calamari upside down and he will be supported by his relatively flat head with mirror up for baby to gaze into. Alternatively, as this toy has a built in link it can be hung above baby such as from a gym. This provides fantastic visual stimulation for baby due to the array of colours from the calamari’s ‘tentacles’ beautifully surrounding the mirror and also the fascination for baby of looking at themselves in the mirror. Research has shown that baby’s preferred view is a human face even if it is their own!
