Bamboo is one of the fastest-growing plants that can be used to reforest an area, and because of the rate at which it grows, it produces 35% more oxygen than an equivalent stand of trees.

Sustainable
Unlike trees which need to be cut down, bamboo can be harvested without damaging the original plant, which then regenerates in three to five years. If grown in the correct climate certain types of bamboo can grow up to 8 feet a day. This is due to the fact that Bamboo is technically a grass - not a tree.

Strong
Harder than maple, but lighter than oak, the tensile strength of bamboo is comparable to steel.
