Angelcare, a Canadian company based in Montreal was created in 1997, and has committed itself to be indispensable in baby safety through its collection of nursery monitors. It noted that the traditional nursery monitors only transmitted sound but were unable to detect breathing movements.

The Concept Behind Angelcare
Traditional nursery monitors transmit sound, but are unable to detect all movements including the slightest breathing movements. The Angelcare concept was developed by Maurice Pinsonnault, a new father overwhelmed with the anxiety which all new parents face. These movement monitors will give parents additional peace of mind day and night whilst baby (and you) are sleeping.

He heard of an existing monitor in the United Kingdom able to detect babies' breathing movements. At the time, it was a very expensive medical device not easily affordable for most parents. Maurice Pinsonnault bought the patent rights and after extensive research and development, Angelcare was born.

Angelcare was also the first company worldwide to introduce the SensorPad technology. The technology has been taken from the medical sector and adapted and improved for home usage.

• Should I lay my baby directly on the Sensor pad? The Sensor Pad is designed to work under a mattress; baby should never be in contact with the Sensor Pad.
• Can the Angelcare Movement & Sound Monitor be used for sound only? Yes, at the touch of a button.
• How long can I use the Angelcare Movement monitor? An Angelcare survey shows that the movement monitor is used on average for 14 months. However, the sound monitor can be used as long as you find it necessary.
• What happens if my baby moves into a corner, off the area above the sensor pad? Not a problem. The Angelcare monitors has adjustable sensitivity to detect movement anywhere on crib mattress.
• We have a spring base crib. Can we still use the Angelcare? Yes. Just place a piece of plywood measuring at least 400mm x 600mm x 6mm (16"X 24" by 1/4") on spring base.
• Can the Sensor pad detect my baby's movements through any type of mattress? Yes. The Sensor pad works under any standard crib mattress.
• What happens in the event of a power failure? The Angelcare will automatically converts to battery mode provided there are working batteries in both units.
