Winter Survival Guide for Baby…

Some helpful winter tips from Yoomi…..

As you know yoomi loves the perfect temperature so we thought it might be useful for us to share their “Winter Survival Guide” to help you keep baby at the perfect temperature during the chilly months ahead.

Did you know…

• - Babies don’t need hot rooms. The NHS recommends keeping baby’s room between 16 and 20 degrees Celsius.  A room thermometer is helpful and ensures baby’s room is kept at a safe and comfortable temperature.  Don’t forget to take it with you when you go on weekend trips away. 
• - Feeling babies neck and tummy is the best indication of baby’s temperature. If baby’s tummy feels warm or their hair is sweaty, you hould take off a layer of clothing.  Remember, a folded blanket counts as two layers. Don’t worry if baby’s hands or feet feel cool, this is normal.  
• - Don’t let the weather put you off going out.  It’s beneficial for you and baby to get fresh air even on a cold winter day.
• - When going out a good rule of thumb is that your baby needs one more layer of clothing than you.  Once the car has warmed up, or you go inside make sure you remove baby’s hat and extra clothing or blanket.  Do this even if it means waking your baby up – yes annoying but essential! 
• - It’s good to keep baby’s skin well moisturised when going out in the cold.  We like Neal’s Yard Baby Balm – £11.00.  Don’t forget to protect mums’ skin too!
• - And lastly, a tip for mum…pushing a buggy will leave your hands exposed, so treat yourself to a pair of warm toasty gloves.
